Toronto, ON – Carlos Bulosan Theatre announces the appointment of Renna Reddie to the position of Artistic Producer.

“The board of directors is excited to welcome Renna Reddie to the role of Artistic Producer at Carlos Bulosan Theatre.  Renna’s devotement to new play development and production makes her the ideal choice to assume the next phase of artistic and administrative leadership of this longstanding company. ” says Board Member Vincent Galvez.

Renna’s relationship with Carlos Bulosan has been significant, originally part of the CBT Play Creation Unit under the tutelage of Marie Beath Badian and since Renna continued to show her commitment to the company as a member of the fundraising committee and eventually becoming the Associate Artistic Director.

Renna was an original member of Clay & Paper Theatre’s bicycle-based theatre project Cyclops: Cycling Oriented Puppet Squad. She worked with Guillermo Gomez-Pena and La Poch Nostra in Divino Corpo-Temple of Improbable and Invisible Causes at the MOCCA. She is also one half of the improv duo GirlParty, and a past performer of the 7a-11d Festival. Renna has an extensive background in Improvisation with the Canadian Improv Games, a national not for profit organization dedicated to the teachings of improvisation to high school students. As a freelance producer Renna’s credits include Doc Wuthergloom’s Haunted Medicine Show (Eldritch Theatre), Peter and the Wolf (Theatre Rusticle), Brown Balls (fu-GEN Theatre Company), Morro and Jasp GONE WILD (U.N.I.T. Productions), Eating with Lola (Sulong Theatre) and Madhouse Variations (Eldritch Theatre) and The Making of St. Jerome (eastBOUNDtheatre). She is the inaugural TD Bank Young Producer for The Fringe of Toronto Theatre Festival and is a member of the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts’ Indie Caucus.

“I am excited to accept the position of Artistic Producer” said Reddie.  “I have huge respect for the company’s community roots and the work that outgoing Artistic Director Nadine Villasin and previous General Manager Michelle Uy have accomplished since its professional transition in 2001.  I look forward leading this company into a bold future by developing and producing innovative work that reflects a vibrant, new generation of Filipino-Canadian artists.”

Carlos Bulosan Theatre is excited to announce it’s 2011/2012 Season which includes the  annual Tales from the Flipside Festival in March 2012 which will showcase playwrights from the Play Creation Unit facilitated by Marjorie Chan and playwrights from CBT’s Back to Basics novice Playwrights Unit facilitated by Nina Lee Aquino.
